scatterer
an ecological group comprising reproductive guilds (q.v.) where eggs are scattered and develop pelagically, attached to submerged or emergent objects, or on the substrate. Most fishes simply scatter their eggs in high numbers. The eggs are nutrient poor, embryonic differentiation is delayed and there is a long larval period ending in metamorphosis
